Dream’s Cyber X Robot: A simple solution for cleaning multiple floors of the house

Chinese home appliance manufacturer Dream Robot has showcased new innovations in technology at the world’s largest technology exhibition, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026. At the exhibition, the company unveiled its innovative concept robot vacuum ‘Cyber X’, which is capable of automatically walking up and down full-sized stairs.

According to Dream, ‘Cyber X’ uses large legs or feet, which are made of rubber treads. Through this, the robot can move smoothly in multi-story buildings. The company claims that the robot is capable of crossing stairs up to 25 centimeters high and a 42-degree slope. It takes about 27 seconds to cross a full staircase.

During the demonstration at CES 2026, it was seen that Cyber X does not walk using its legs while walking up and down stairs. Rather, it moves horizontally and crosses the stairs like a small tank. This unique feature has created a lot of curiosity among visitors.

The robot’s vacuum unit is separate from the main stair climbing mechanism. The vacuum unit is placed in a docking station inside the large structure and in that position it traverses the stairs. As a result, although it cannot clean the stairs directly, it is being seen as an effective solution to the problem of transporting vacuums in multi-storey buildings.

Cyber X is equipped with a built-in water tank, a laser-based navigation system and special braking technology as a mapping facility. The braking system is able to keep the robot stationary on the stairs or floor even if the battery runs out.

According to a report by Engadget, ‘Cyber X’ is a research prototype, and a final decision has not yet been made to bring it to the commercial market. However, Dream’s previous concept technologies have later been transformed into commercial products.

At the same event, Dream also unveiled its new flagship robot vacuum ‘Dream X60 Max Ultra’. The $1,699 device can climb steps as small as 3.5 inches (8.8 cm) high, though it’s not capable of climbing full-size stairs. However, it’s more effective than the previous version at overcoming small obstacles around the house.
